The Perfect Combination of Honda V6 Engine + VTEC Technology
Large displacement V6: A powerful, compact 24-valve SOHC design without the bulk and weight of long intake runners and multiple camshafts. The narrow V6 design provides top-tier performance, durability, and excellent fuel economy.
The Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC®) system provides you with power whenever and wherever you need it. VTEC® gives you a broader, flatter torque curve and smooth power delivery throughout the entire engine operating range. VTEC® is the perfect combination of power, torque, and fuel economy for the Honda V6 engine.
Honda BF250D with BLAST® System
Boosted Low Speed Torque, or BLAST®, improves acceleration at low speeds. Rapid movement of the throttle control activates the BLAST® system, aggressively advancing the ignition curve. With more horsepower allowing the hull to plane faster, the "Hole Shot" is significantly improved.

Engine Seawater Protective Coating
Honda has applied a coating to the internal cooling passages of the BF250D. This process extends the engine's service life in harsh saltwater environments.
NMEA 2000 Protocol
The NMEA 2000 protocol allows engine data to be connected with onboard systems and system displays (such as sonar or GPS).
High-Output Charging
The BF250D charging system features a 90-amp "on-demand" belt-driven alternator and 60 charging amps. This superior design reduces heat buildup and provides excellent battery charging across the entire RPM range.
AMP+ Extra Charging at Idle
The BF250D features the industry-first AMP+ function. At idle, when the engine senses a need for extra current, AMP+ automatically increases the RPM by 100 to generate an additional 9 amps. This feature helps prevent draining critical battery power when using multiple accessories—a common concern when offshore fishing.
Secondary Cooling System
The unique cooling system keeps all cylinders at a uniform temperature. Incoming water passes through each aluminum exhaust manifold, then through the cylinder head, returning around the exhaust manifold before entering the exhaust unit. This improves cooling efficiency and long-term durability!
Extreme Load Gearbox
The BF250D utilizes an all-new high-performance gearbox designed to withstand the extreme duty cycles of law enforcement and military patrol boats. Combined with a new gear reduction ratio (2.00:1) and a wide range of propellers (up to 16 inches in diameter), it provides a high level of all-around performance.
Large Intake Silencer Reduces Noise
The design of the variable intake system on the Honda BF250D also includes a large intake silencer to reduce noise. The silencing effect comes from adding a chamber to the intake track, causing sound waves to interfere with each other—effectively eliminating noise.
