Finnish premium hull manufacturer XO Boats, known for its innovative design, excellent driving quality, and robust deep-V aluminum hulls, unveiled the latest XO DFNDR 8 at this year's boot Düsseldorf. It has also been nominated for the 2023 Best of Boats Award.
Rugged, agile, and explosive—XO Boats has introduced a new 8-meter vessel with enviable performance. This is the latest addition to the Finnish brand's lineup: the XO DFNDR 8.
XO DFNDR 8
The DFNDR 8 features high performance and high versatility. Available in both "Open Safari" and "Enclosed" versions, it maximizes the multifunctionality of the XO Boats segment.
XO DFNDR 8 - Exterior Design
Thanks to new concepts in this segment, the XO DFNDR 8 is perfect for versatile boat owners while retaining its signature aesthetics and performance traits. A particularly smart design allows for customized options tailored to individual user needs, while also allowing multiple configurations to coexist.
The long and narrow (8.03m x 2.37m) military-inspired hull, deep-V keel, and hardtop are sure to turn heads, immediately hinting at the boat's ultimate performance at sea. But behind such a cutting-edge exterior, if you like, there is even more power.
First is the hardtop, which comes in two versions, offering more flexible custom solutions.
The Safari version features an open-sided hardtop, allowing for a fully Mediterranean open-air lifestyle, while the Enclosed version allows you to tackle even the most adverse weather and climatic conditions. Not to mention the convertible version, which allows the open-top to be converted into an enclosed version when needed.
To ensure maximum safety in all conditions, the aft deck is equipped with safety grab rails, and the deck is covered with anti-slip material—a combination designed to maximize grip and stability on board. The ample space both fore and aft also makes the new XO DFNDR 8 an excellent walk-around boat, with the option to add a foredeck sunbed/sofa. It is an ideal layout for various activities, from fishing to family day trips.
The cabin and T-Top designs have excellent weather adaptability, providing customizable configurations perfect for any climate and latitude. Finally, these seats can be transformed into berths, which, combined with a separate toilet, optimizes possibilities and ensures comfort even on extended trips.
XO Boats CEO Erkki Talvela on the DFNDR 8
XO Boats CEO Erkki Talvela said: "The new DFNDR 8's distinction from competitors is undoubtedly its amazing driving quality in harsh weather conditions. When I tested the prototype of this boat, I was really happy with how we improved this feature, which is outstanding across all XO models."
Paired with twin engines, the XO DFNDR 8 can reach speeds of +50 knots. Although this boat is smaller than recent XO models like the DFNDR 9 and EXPLR 9, it maintains the true uncompromising attitude and resilience of XO.
For those looking to take their boating to a higher level, this boat is the perfect starting point for island-hopping pioneers. Engine recommendations start from 300 HP, but the boat can easily handle a single 450 HP V8 or twin 225 HP V6 engines.
Finally, Talvela concluded: "The XO DFNDR 8 features a brand-new concept centered on versatility, catering to the various needs of global players. We offer this boat to all those who have yet to experience the uniqueness of XO, and we hope to make the DFNDR 8 one of our excellent product representatives."
